What Makes Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) Dress This Way

Posh Spice: What Makes Her Dress This Way

Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham may often look like a deranged My Size Barbie, but we don't really care, we'll take style advice from her any day. Now that her style guide That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between is finally available in the U.S., we're thrilled to carry her around with us everywhere.

Obviously, we have a little thing for Posh (hell, we're even watching Ugly Betty tonight for her), but that doesn't mean we're going easy on her book when we say it's actually pretty good.

We love that it looks like a magazine and reads like we're just chatting with Posh over coffee. It's not a strict how-to-dress book; it's more Victoria offering up what she's learned about fashion, and you can take whatever you want from it.

We thought we'd conduct an imaginary interview with Posh using quotes from the book so you can see just how conversationally awesome it is. You may want to read Posh's lines in an English accent—it's much more enjoyable:

OMG! Hi, Posh. Love the shoes.
"You know what? I look great!"

Work it. Did Rachel Zoe give you that handbag?
"I never use a stylist, never have and never will. Why let somebody else have all the fun?"

True that. Are you loving L.A.?
"I feel instantly at home on Wilshire Boulevard, just down the road from Rodeo Drive, where I can pop into Barneys, Saks and Neiman Marcus within a stone's throw of one another."

Yeah, that's pretty great. We'd feel the same if David Beckham were footing our credit card bill.
"Looking good isn't about money, it's about style. And style never goes out of fashion."

You're right. Britney Spears is proof of that. You have any advice for her?
"Make sure that the skirt is not so short that everyone can see your knickers whenever you bend over or get out of a car. For that matter, make sure you're wearing knickers."

Good luck, we've been telling her that for months. Any other thoughts on knickers?
"You don't have to match your bra to your knickers! This is what I said to a fashion magazine a while ago. You'd have thought I said the world was flat for all the fuss it caused. Of course they don't have to match! I have other things to think about than whether my bra is properly coordinated with my knickers."

Brilliant. One more question: Is it necessary to always wear high heels?
"For me, it's really all about high heels. I like to wear heels up to eleven centimeters high, but that's tricky for every day if I'm running around, even I must admit."

We understand. Well, we have a coffee date with Sporty Spice we need to get to, so do you have any final words?
"Go out and make the most of what the fabulous stores here have to offer."

Sure thing.
"Listen to you inner voice...keep your head up and just walk down that catwalk."

Oh, Posh, you're too crazy. Good luck with the tour. See you at the Staples Center next month.

...See how much fun that was? And we didn't even get to Posh's thoughts on jeans, maternity wear, evening dresses or hair (we wanted to save something for you).
